The Manhattan loft where actor Heath Ledger passed away 15 years ago has been sold for $14.25 million in an off-market deal.
Located at 419-421 Broome St. in Soho, Ledger had rented the 4,400-plus-square-foot unit for around $25,000 per month. The home, which was sold to an anonymous LLC, features an open floor plan with a great room, three bedrooms, three baths, and 14-foot-high ceilings.
After Ledger’s passing, the building was transformed into a condominium with two stories added.
The home has since undergone renovations with updated features such as a high-end chef’s kitchen, marble walls and flooring in the bathroom, exposed brick in the bedroom, and sound-insulated custom windows.
The loft also features a wood-burning fireplace, central AC, and its own laundry room.
Ledger was found dead in his bedroom on January 22, 2008, from an accidental overdose of prescription medication.
The news spread fast throughout the city, and fans gathered at the building the same day to leave flowers and candles under the flag of Ledger’s native Australia.
The triplex penthouse in the building that was built after his death sold for a downtown record of $49 million in 2021.
