An Arizona Home With a See-Through Swimming Pool Asks $9.3 Million

A Paradise Valley, Ariz., home with a transparent swimming pool is hitting the market for $9.3 million.

An Arizona home with a transparent swimming pool is returning to market for $9.3 million. The roughly 5,600-square-foot home sits on just over an acre in Paradise Valley, an affluent town between Phoenix and Scottsdale. The seller is entrepreneur Craig Connors, founder of Craig Connors Skincare.

The home sits under Camelback Mountain’s Praying Monk rock formation.

The house has been on and off the market several times since 2019, priced as high as $10.2 million, according to Zillow. Mr. Connors bought the Paradise Valley property in 2012 for $1.25 million and razed the existing house on the site. He commissioned Arizona-based architect Bing Hu to design a new one.

The five-bedroom home was completed in 2015 and sits on a hillside under Camelback Mountain’s famous Praying Monk rock formation, according to listing agent Joan Levinson of Realty One Group.

The modern home is made of steel and concrete, according to Mr. Hu, who said he used materials such as marble, stone and glass for the interiors. The goal, he said, “was to blend the architecture with nature.”

The aboveground, glass swimming pool was built into the back of the hillside, and Mr. Hu said its transparency lights up the yard at night. “It’s like a glowing water cube,” he said.

A detached structure on the property is used as a gym.

Also on the property is a roughly 700-square-foot, detached structure that Mr. Connors uses as a gym. With a bathroom and a kitchen area, it can easily be used as a guesthouse if the new owner chooses, said Ms. Levinson.

The property is landscaped with desert vegetation like cactuses and has a large lawn made of artificial turf.

Mr. Connors said he is selling the home because it no longer suits his family of six.

According to Ms. Levinson, the Paradise Valley market has had a strong start to 2023, with more than 20 home sales over $5 million in the past three months. She is currently negotiating the closing of two homes listed at more than $10 million each. In February, the median sale price in Paradise Valley was $3.2 million, down 2.9% from the same time last year, according to Redfin.
